Demon of Truth

Every time I talk to you, you become more of a stranger
The more I try to know you again, the less I see who you are
I think about our past, memories like ours don’t disappear
You tell me I am dwelling.
What else can I do but live in the past? The past is all I have.
The past is all we have, it is all we are

You’re so blind to who I am
What used to be your best friend is now fading from your heart, your mind, your anything and everything
You ask me how the weather is, you make your small talk
But you still can’t seem to recognize the fact that I’m dying inside.
I tell myself you’re afraid of it,
You know how I feel, you can read my heart the way you always have.
It’s no secret that I still love you
Just as much as I did when you used to hold me
When you used to kiss me, when you used to show me your heart.
You’re still the same person I gave my heart to, my soul to.
It’s just the distance, right? I’m too far away.
Or you just don’t want to be tied down. You need your freedom.
All these lies, and to myself.
It’s not the distance that keeps you from me, love can move mountains.
It’s not commitment you don’t want in your life….
It’s me.

I can’t accept my life like this
I’m the one who’s afraid of this, I’m the one who refuses to lose.
All I have left is a dream of you in my head,
These fantasies, these beautiful images of the perfect human, the utopian being.
It might be painless to give up if it wasn’t so true.
What exists in my head is not a dream, it’s not fantasy.
It’s you. You are the utopian being, you are the beautiful dream.
These aren’t images painted by the palette of my mind’s eye.
These are still frames, these are the Kodak moments.
This is you and this is me.
This is what we used to be, what we used to have.
It wouldn’t hurt so much if it was only a dream.

I’ll let myself face reality now, I’ll embrace my demons
I had you once and now you’re gone.
No truth was in your emotions then, you fail the test of time.
I gave up everything I had, and now I’m standing naked, cold, alone…
My soul has been raped by the demon of truth.

He told me you never loved me
